Earlier, 30th November 2021 is the last date to register on the national scholarship portal for the Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship. But now, the government has extended the last date up to 30th September 2022 to register for the same. The last date for Defective Verification and Institute Verification has also been extended up to 16th October 2022. Applicants are suggested to apply before the last date to avoid any mishappening.

Objective of Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship
The scholarship scheme has been started with the objective of empowering girls from minority communities. These girls will be provided with scholarships that will help them in continuing their education and securing a better chance to stand in society. This is scholarship scheme has been started with the aim of providing a better and secure future to these young girls of these minority communities.
Rewards Details
The following rewards will be available to the beneficiaries of this scholarship:-

Mode of Transfer
The amount of scholarship will be transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries. The applicants can check the scholarship amount by visiting the concerned bank. Any other mode of payment of the amount of scholarship from MAEF like payment of fee, transfer in parents/ guardian accounts, and payment through cheque/DD are not permissible in any case.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarship:-
- The beneficiaries of the Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship are girls student belonging to minority communities that are Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Parsis
- Only the minority girls students who are studying from class 9th to 12th can apply for this scholarship
- For availing of this scholarship scheme, the student has to secure at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination
- The credentials of the student have to be verified by the school. The student has To to fill the school verification form and get it signed by the principal along with a stamp and signature on the photograph
- The annual income of the student’s family should not exceed Rs 2 lakh
- There is no requirement to send hard copies to the authority.
- Only two students from a family can claim the scholarships.
- This scholarship cannot be availed for studying abroad
- The students are not required to pay any kind of fees for submitting the application form
Terms And Conditions
The applicant must follow the following terms and conditions to apply for this scholarship:-
- The scholarship amount will be disbursed on the basis of a minority population in each state and union territory as per census 2011
- The authorities can change any rules from time to time
- If the scholarship is discontinued once then it will not be revived under any kind of circumstances
- If the student has provided any false information then the scholarship will be canceled and the given amount will be recovered
- In the case of the academic gap, the scholarship will be discontinued
- If a student is availing of any scholarship under the Central or state government scheme then he or she is not eligible to avail of Begum Hazrat Mahal.
- All those applicants who belong to the lowest income group will be given preference
Documents Required

- Recent passport size photograph of the applicant
- School verification form attested by the Principal of the school/institute
- Mark sheet of the last exam passed attested by the Principal
- Parents/Guardians’ income certificate issued by a competent authority declared by the State/UTs Administration.
- Self-declaration of minority community certificate by the applicant
- Self-certified copy of the first page of bank/postal account passbook which should be in the name of the applicant (either single or joint account with her parents)
- A copy of the applicant’s Aadhaar card (in case of unavailability of Aadhaar card, applicants can submit a birth certificate, BPL card or Rashan card)

Cancellation of Scholarship
The rules for the cancellation of this scholarship are as follows.

Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship 2022 FAQs:
Only girl students belonging to six notified minority communities viz. Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi (Zoroastrian) studying in India and fulfilling the Scheme guidelines are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship Scheme is online Scheme and one can apply for fresh Scholarship under this Scheme on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in. Link to the Portal is also provided on the website of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation, i.e. www.maef.nic.in
In order to enable a student to apply for Scholarship under BHMNS Scheme the Institute/School will have to appoint Nodal Officer and that Nodal Officer should register herself on the portal (NSP). A format of the ‘Institute Nodal Officer Registration Form’ is given at Annexure-I.
You should immediately approach the institute (where you are studying) to login their account and add the concerned Course from the Master course list. Thereafter, you may be able to find the desired course name in your online application. If the desired course is not available even in the Master course list of Institute login, you/your Institute should immediately approach to the concerned State Department (where your Institute is physically located) to add the course. Name of course and course duration along with the supporting documents must be provided to the State Department.
